Fund data
How can you look up a venture fund’s performance?
Public filings show a venture fund’s size and the value it holds each year, but not its net returns. The SEC’s Form ADV lists every private fund’s gross asset value each year, Form D shows how much it raised, and public pensions publish IRR, TVPI and DPI for funds they invest in. The Yantacaw Fund Tracker puts all three together for US venture funds.

What each public record shows
| Record | What it shows | Limits |
|---|---|---|
| Form ADV, Schedule D 7.B.(1) | Each private fund’s gross asset value at fiscal year-end, plus its private fund ID (805-…) | Gross of carry and includes the GP commitment; no distributions |
| Form D | Amount raised, filed when the fund first sells interests | Some funds report only a first close |
| Public pension reports | Commitment, paid-in, distributions, NAV, IRR, TVPI and DPI | Only funds a pension invests in; reported quarterly or annually |
| Form N-PORT | Value and cost of stakes held by mutual funds and other registered funds | Few venture funds have registered-fund holders |
Do it yourself
Finding a fund on Form ADV
- Search the adviser (the management company, not the fund) on adviserinfo.sec.gov
- Open its latest Form ADV and go to Schedule D, section 7.B.(1)
- Find the fund by name; note its private fund ID and “current gross asset value”
- For earlier years, the SEC publishes bulk Form ADV data; current filings replace old ones on IAPD
Or search it here
Every fund’s history on one page
Each fund has a page with its value by year-end since 2011, its size, its peak and any pension figures, for example Amplify Partners II or NEA 16. Search any fund in the Fund Tracker, browse firms A–Z, or download the data.
