Notes
Reading the columns
Aggregate peak held: each fund’s highest year-end gross asset value on Form ADV, added up across the firm’s funds.
Peak ÷ size: the most the funds ever held, as a multiple of what they raised.
Peak − size (potential profit): the same thing in dollars.
Vintage: the year of the fund’s first sale on Form D. Where there’s no Form D, the year it first appears in Form ADV, so funds formed before 2011 show 2011.
Limits
These measure value held at the peak, not returns. Distributions before the peak aren’t counted, and a drop in value may be a markdown or a distribution.
Young funds sit near 1.0x until their capital is called. Narrow the vintage range to drop them.
Data starts at year-end 2011, so funds that peaked earlier are understated.
Funds with no reported size are listed but not scored.
